The town of El Pescadero, Baja California Sur, Mexico is home to San Pedrito Surf Hotel. This town
is an oasis in the desert. You will see it in the distance as you drive down Highway 19 near
Kilometer 62. You will notice lush green foliage from the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, all the way
to the ocean. West of Highway 19 you will notice the cultivated fields of basil, tomatoes and chilies
down the roads that ultimately lead to the ocean. Most of these crops are grown for exportation and
end up in specialty markets and gourmet grocery stores in the United States. Fortunately, some of the
produce finds its way into the road-side produce stands.

The farmers in El Pescadero enjoy an abundance of water because here in El Pescadero, fresh water
from the mountains percolates right up from the soil in some areas. A great place to see this is at the
secluded Palm Beach, or playa San Pedro. Palm Beach is one of El Pescadero's many hidden
treasures.

Though El Pescadero's population is smaller the town is more sprawling than Todos Santos. El
Pescadero is progressing toward a more developed business center with a bus stop it now has its own
Pemex gas station and Oxxo convenience store. El Pescadero is the home of Playa Agave Azul, a
fifty acre gated real estate development with a tequila distillery, restaurant and bar in the plans. El
Pescadero is stepping into future planned expansion.

There are also many wonderful places to dine with authentic Mexican cuisine. Our personal favorite
is Rosie's Loncheria across the street from the Pemex gas station. Los Mangos on the main road
traveling East of Highway 19, is open on the weekends and serves fresh caught fish which is the best
in the area.

El Pescadero means the Fisherman, here you will be able to enjoy many delicious preparations in the
innovative restaurants located in and around El Pescadero. El Pescadero is located between Los
Cerritos beach and Todos Santos. It is equal distance (just a ten minute drive) to Cerritos beach or
Todos Santos from El Pescadero.

El Pescadero has fewer Cardón cacti than on the desert drive from Cabo San Lucas. These native
cacti which are the largest cactus species in the world are protected by the Mexican Government.

Come to El Pescadero, Mexico in December to see the amazing whale migration. These astonishing
creatures travel 5,000 miles from the Bering Sea, to the warm water off the coast of Baja California
Sur, Mexico. Watch from any beach near El Pescadero as the whales play in the ocean water so close
you feel you can reach out and touch them! In the past these whales were hunted to near extinction,
but due to the efforts of conservationists, we are able to enjoy them as they cavort in the ocean
putting on a memorable show.

Turtle conservation is also a priority for the residents of El Pescadero, Mexico. There are several
groups that help these endangered sea turtles from poachers and uneducated tourists. Please be
mindful if you are visiting our beaches beginning in October through the end of March. If you see a
nest, please leave it alone, also if you see baby turtles making their way to the ocean, stand and
watch, but do not touch. The low sand temperature near El Pescadero, Mexico cause poor
incubation of the nests for these Leatherback turtles. The group Totugueros Las Playitas has a
mission to protect them. The group builds an incubation invernadero to elevate the sand
temperature, then they move the nests there, where they incubate successfully. This group also
organizes educational conservation meetings for children, fisherman and residents. They are located
in the area of El Pescadero, Mexico. If you would like to participate please contact them using the
